So yeah, One Less Reason in a couple hours!

Blade: Trinity

Got back a while ago from watching Blade: Trinity. I’ve never been a big fan of the Blade movies, but I was interested to see how Ryan Reynolds would do in a serious role. Well, I didn’t actually get to see much seriousness from him, honestly. He was still hilarious, just a little more muscled and hard-edged. I had to hold myself back from yelling “go Berg!!” a couple of times. 95% of the clever lines and humor in the movie were tossed his way, and the handled them quite well.

Snipes was pretty typical, though he is looking a little crusty around the edges. The first fight scene was decent, but after that, they all took on a bit of redundancy. Still pretty kick ass, with a tiny bit of humor lurking under the surface. Mostly, he just seemed annoyed through most of the movie. Can’t say I blame him though.

Jessica Biel was ok in her role as Whistler’s daughter. Her fight scenes were considerably better than I expected.

I wish they would have padded the story a little more. Yeah, we’ve seen the “bad guy comes back from the dead to take over the world” thing a hundred times. Mummy, anyone? There really was not anything spectacular about this bad guy (Drake) either. I was quite disappointed in him. The guy just could not act. His threats fell flat, and he seemed more than a little dense and sluggish. I guess that’s what thousands of years of sleep (or maybe just lack of talent) will do to a pers….er…vampire.

Overall, I would have to say I liked the second Blade movie much better than this one. I wasn’t disappointed, as it was a third installment, but as a standalone movie, I’m not giving it a standing ovation.
