I really have a hard time relating to people and understanding them sometimes. It may be because I was raised in a fairly solitary environment, or because I simply prefer my own company to everyone else’s. I wrote a few days ago that I am fascinated by how other people react to things. Sometimes I expect people to react the way I would in a given situation, when my slant on everything is no where near what everyone else is thinking.
I noticed this especially when I was in jury duty a few months back. The things I thought were obvious, other people just could not grasp. Eventually, the same decision was made that I wanted to be made, but the route to get to that point was much different than my train of thought. People process information so differently, react so differently, it’s amazing that people get along at all.
My husband and I are very different creatures, and have different perspectives on almost everything, yet we rarely fight, and can usually agree on most major decisions. Overall, we are pretty darn happy.
It just shows that a lot of times the people you really don’t think would be the type of person you would normally socialize with, because they have different ideas than you, may turn out to be your best friend, or the love of your life (speaking from experience here. heh).
Well, I will step down from my soapbox, because I need to get to sleep. I didn’t get crap done tonight, but I am tired.
