Well, I called into work tonight because I felt like crap…my tonsils were hurting, I was coughing and snot was flowing like the river Nile. I took some drugs and relaxed, then ate some pizza…finally felt better. I though about going into work, but it was already late and I didn’t want to spread germs around if I was contagious.
I watched a couple movies tonight. The first being Napoleon Dynamite. I really did not expect to like this movie at all…from what I had heard it just wasn’t going to be my style. After the first 10 minutes I was ready to turn it off, but my husband urged me to give it 10 more…and I liked it, quite a bit. I laughed, and laughed, and, well, you get the picture. heh. It kind of showed what reality TV would be like if it was actually reality TV.
The second movie I watched was Hide and Seek. Now, I love Dakota Fanning, she is awesomely talented for someone so young, and DeNiro is, well, DeNiro (I am trying to forget about Godsend). However, this movie was lacking a certain something. Possibly a storyline. Yeah, that could be it. The “split personalities” thing has been done, and done, and overdone. Black and crispy, leave it alone. Sheesh. There was a bit of a surprise twist to the movie, I will have to give it that, and I really cannot fault the acting.
I really think my tastes in movies has changed, or perhaps my standards are higher. No, that cannot be it, because a lot of times I like movies that everyone else thinks is crap, or hate movies that are wildly popular. I just have very bizarre preferences when it comes to movies. I like horror flicks, but it has to have a certain level of depravity for me to enjoy it. I cannot stand long, drawn out, boring as hell movies. I don’t like “abstract” films. I don’t like movies that leave me pondering them, attempting to figure out what point the director was trying to get across. Screw that. To make a long story short (oops, too late), I am just a little twisted when it comes to what I like.
I love comedy, even parodies. My tastes for pointless or slapstick type stuff has waned a little, but not much. I don’t like extremely badly made films, and a film has to be clever and at least a little original in the plot for me to like it. I don’t mind sexual humor, but leave the bathroom jokes out of it. I HATE bathroom humor.
I have to admit it, I like chick flicks. Give me some ice cream and a copy of “Sleepless in Seattle” or “Serendipity” and I am a happy camper. heh.
Well, I am going to do a tad of web site work, then try to get to sleep. I am still not feeling so hot.
Nighty Night.
