Chop Chop

Just a quick blog post before I have to clock in for work. I bought a paper shredder today, which is going to help me get all my mail and important papers organized. I am planning on starting that tonight, if I am not too terribly tired after work.

I definitely did not feel like working out this morning, my muscles are still too sore from skiing. The bruise on my knee looks pretty bad, but it doesn’t hurt too much.

I found out I am likely going to be able to go to my company trivia night this year, which is cool, because I have not had the chance to attend before. I don;t know if I will get any questions right, but I have been on a trivia kick for a while now, so I am really looking forward to it.

Oops, time to clock in. Ciao!

A Fond Farewell

by deletedsoul | January 24, 2005 | In Entertainment No Comments

A fond farewell to the undisputed king of Late Night TV, Johnny Carson. Without him, insomniacs such as myself would be tortured with even more infromercials and “Girls Gone Wild” ads than we already are. :)

I didn’t watch much Johnny, since he was a little before my time, but he did inspire a whole generation of late night talk shows.

Hats off to you, Johnny.

Wow…

It has been a really eventful weekend. Friday was the company Christmas dinner, which was actually a lot of fun. I had a little more fun than I should have, I think…thanks to two margaritas. Heh. It was all in good fun, especially my annoying habit of trying to convince everyone I’m not drunk when I am pretty toasty. We went shopping afterwards, to get gear for the company ski trip the following day.

We finally got home about 9:30, I think, and played Jeopardy on PS2 until midnight. I tried to go to sleep after that, with no luck whatsoever. I dozed off at 3:30 and woke again at 4:00. I got about a half an hour’s sleep total. I ended up having to make a couple trips to Walmart anyway, so it was OK.

The trip to St. Louis wasn’t bad at all, with good company in the van, and I got shotgun, which helped keep me from getting sick. Well, that and Dramamine. Yay for drugs.

We got to the ski resort, and it was snowing like hell and the wind was blowing very hard as well, so conditions were not the best. We got fitted for boots and skis, then headed for the training session. My poor husband fell down several times, and we were all struggling with the training, because the hill was slick…with ice. We finally finished the lesson, and I headed inside after falling unceremoniously on my ass. I was NOT going back out there. After a snack and a drink, I decided to brave it, and got new boots, which were much more comfy. I fell down again, harder this time, and bruised my knees pretty good, then sort of skied down the bunny slope…then tried to use the rope pull to go back up the hill. Hehe…yeah right. I decided again that I was quitting, but tried it once more, and I didn’t fall!! I went down the hill a total of six times, each time getting a little more used to it. In spite of the falling and difficulty, I ended up having a great time!

I really would like to try it when there is a few inches of powder, rather than pure ice. I am pretty sore and banged up, but not as bad as some of the other guys, and not enough to make me turn down another trip.

On the way back we stopped at Olive Garden…god I love that restaurant. I ate until I was about to burst, and got a little smashed on Peach Sangria. It doesn’t make me too loopy though, I just get really, really sleepy. I cranked up my MP3 player and slept pretty much the whole way home. It really was an awesome weekend.

Today I slept about fifteen hours, to catch up on the sleep I lost the might before, then got up and watched The Dark Crystal that a buddy loaned me, because I had never seen it. I actually liked it pretty well. After I pigged out on a little sauceless pizza, I did laundry, put together a bookshelf, moved a desk, and rearranged a bunch of stuff in my bedroom and our office. I watched a little more TV, then, well, here I am. :)

Needless to say, I am tired, and kinda glad the weekend is over, but at the same time, I am glad it happened.

Well, I have a little more website stuff to update, so I will got for now.

Ciao!
