Yet another exceedingly boring day at work. I’m sitting here, sipping my hot cocoa, and contemplating the meaning of life. Well, not really, but I am thinking about life in general. I have been watching the coverage of the Terri Schiavo case. It’s a very difficult situation, and I cannot wrap my mind around what it would be like to be in her shoes. She is alert, responsive, obviously not brain dead, but she is also not able to feed herself or care for herself. From what I have seen, the husband has been acting selfishly, not attempting to provide her the necessary means for rehabilitation. If she might be able to function again as a active (though handicapped) member of society, why not give her the chance instead of removing her feeding tube and allowing her to starve to death slowly? I just don’t understand the concept of that at all.
Anyway, hopefully they will be able to win the fight, to at least give her a decent chance at a halfway normal life.
