Folded up

I decided today that I needed a new hobby, so I started doing origami. I really like origami, because it is an unconventional art form, and it looks pretty damn cool. :) A friend of mine makes really nifty looking origami, and has made a couple of pieces for me in the past. Bob loves origami, so I gave him my first successful creation, the common swan. That one isn’t mine…mine is yellow, but it’s really pretty much the same. I made a penguin as well, which kind of looks like a buoy. heh.

I also sent off for some college brochures…maybe I will actually go through with it this time. I really need to get settled at work before I dive into something new, however. That’s kind of cryptic, huh? :)

Oh, thanks to Rowan for stopping by my blog. Rowan’s blog is sweet!

I have the oddest habit of sitting around, thinking about things that annoy me. I know it isn’t exactly healthy, but I do it anyway. So, without further ado:

Things That Annoy Me (version 1.0)

  • Movie trailers showing something that does not show up in the movie
  • “Some Assembly Required”
  • The fact that a certain fast food joint does not know the meaning of “Extra sour cream”
  • Poodles
  • Body builder chicks

Ok, that’s enough for today.

I watched Suspect Zero today. I enjoy those types of movies quite a bit, but I think Bob liked it a lot more than I did. It was watchable though.

Well, I am going to get offline for a bit.

I saw Amityville Horror tonight. For the first time in quite awhile, I was impressed with a horror flick. First off, I love Ryan Reynolds, and he did an excellent job in this movie. No cheese, no humor, just good acting. I also liked the storyline, and the way the movie maintained suspense throughout. That is sadly lacking in a lot of horror flicks today. It had plenty of “jump” moments (I actually screamed once!), but mostly just kept you on your toes. The ending was pretty good, without being anti-climatic or non-existent. I hate for a movie to build and build, with nothing to show for it in the end. The Grudge was a lot like that. Granted, that movie was watchable, but Amity puts it to shame.

If I had any complaints, it would be that the effects were a little weak at times, and there was not much scare factor in the house itself. Also, the movie seemed a little rushed, without giving as much detail as would be prudent for a movie like this.

Overall, it’s a pretty exciting ride from start to finish. My suggestion: Don’t buy anyone nachos. Heh.

Now all I have to do is watch the original, to see how well they kept to the original story.

Night all!!
