Hack

Yeah, I know..it’s been a long time since I have posted anything. I have been busy doing a handful of minor time consuming things. Working out, working, buying a camera….BUYING A CAMERA?! Yeah, I bought a refurb Gateway 4.0 MP this week. I got a good deal on it from geeks.com. I could have gotten it new on Ebay for around the same price, but I would rather purchase stuff over 50 bucks from an online retailer as opposed to an Ebay store. Call me crazy. :) Anyway, it was shipped today, it should be in on Friday, and once I figure out how to operate it, I should have some nifty pics of my mouse, my hubby and my toaster up for all to see!!!
I was calculating how much storage space I have online, with my email accounts, photo storage accounts and web hosting. Not too long ago I had a 50 Mb email account from Oddpost, which was awesome in the days of 3Mb Hotmail. Unfortunately, Oddpost sold out to Yahoo! and stopped upgrading their features. I also had a 50Mb hosting account with a local ISP, just to slap up pictures and such. That, my friends, was all the storage I had. Oh wait, I had a 3 Mb FTP account through my employer as well. Can’t forget about that. :)

What I have now:

  • 1.5 Gb web hosting account for cheap through Ovica
  • 4.5 Gb (I think, it might be less) secondary hosting account cheap as free
  • 3 gmail.com email accounts at over 2 Gb each. That’a 6.5 Gb, y’all!
  • 3 Mb FTP account
  • 25 Mb Hotmail account
  • Unlimited photo storage on Flickr Pro

That is a freakin’ lot of storage. I will likely never, ever use it either. I would like to find something specifically for MP3s, though. That would be teh awesome.

At any rate, I do know the standards of email, storage and hosting have gone way, way up in the past year.

Thank you Google. You are my hero.
