Yes groggy. That is exactly how I feel right now. I am getting ready to curl up and snuggle with my pillow, but I wanted to throw up a blog entry before I pass out.
I am a little irked. Missouri governor Matt Blunt has passed a new law concerning strip clubs and other venues of “adult entertainment”. The law states the following:
- All customers and employees must be over the age of 21.
- No full nudity is allowed.
- No lap dances allowed.
- The employees that are semi nude cannot be any closer than 10 ft to a customer.
- All dancing must be done behind a 2 ft high rail.
This is bogus bullshit, and I believe it is fucking everything up for everyone who might now share the “values” of Mr. Blunt. And to think I voted for the guy. Ugh. Thankfully, judges in St. Louis are currently contesting the bill, stating that it was not properly presented, but rather, was tacked on as a rider on a drunk driving bill. What kind of underhanded crap is that?! Honestly though, even if I was to never enter a strip club again, and believed that the practice was completely wrong, I am not going to stop others from doing it as long as they are not harming themselves or others. it’s the same way I feel about a lot of things. Do what you like behind closed doors, such as smoking, gay sex or whatever you happen to enjoy doing. As long as it is not physically damaging to yourself or others around you, and I am not forced to be exposed to it, I don’t have a problem with it. Illegal drugs, for instance, can pose a threat to other’s safety, so I do not approve of that being legalized. A group of friends, a single guy or even a couple going to a strip bar for a good time is not harming anyone. The girls know what they are doing, the customers know what they are doing. The only thing it harms is the fragile sensibilities of people who think that their morals are the only ones that count, and who walk around spewing nonsense like they have a corn cob shoved where the sun doesn’t shine. I have no problem with people going to church, with trying to live good lives…but when you start taking things to the extreme, and attempting to force your ideas onto someone else, that pisses me off.
This is exactly why I rarely talk about politics, religion or any controversial subject in public anymore, because everyone tries to smother everyone else with their values.
I think this picture that a friend of mine took of me today says it all:

Good night people. If you get a chance, email Matt Blunt about the idiocy of the new law: http://www.gov.mo.gov/constituentform.htm
