Vacating

My vacation officially starts on Monday, so I plan on a long week of relaxing, and gettin a few things done that I have been putting off.

With any luck, this should be one heavenly week.

My mother came through her procedure OK, so that was quite a relief. I am still battling a head cold and some congestion, likely because of the wildly fluctuating weather we have had of late. There are tornado watches this evening, and by tomorrow it could be snowing. Bleh. I love winter weather, but I hate drastic changes. An even 50-60 during the day and 30-40 in the evening would please me, with the occasional dip in temperature bring snow and ice. Screw summer, I suffer when the temp rises above 75. Living in the humid steambath that is Missouri doesn’t help my dislike of summer…other than swimming and outdoorsy stuff, summer is crappy.

Bring on the snow!

V-Day

Yes, it’s that time again. Time for (gag) Valentine’s day. Once again I get to smile fakely as people get the roses and the candy and the kisses. It’s not that I haven’t gotten my share of gifts, I have. I just happen to agree with my husband on this one. Valentine’s does seem like an excuse for all the assholes in the world to make up for a year of assholiness by buying thier significant other something. I’m not saying that some guys aren’t romantic blah blah blah, but c’mon. Why not be spontaneous and get your girl/guy gifts or special dinners or weekends away all year long…not just on some over-priced, over consumer-driven, overrated holiday?! I will just be glad when the swarm of pink and red is gone, and I can wait a WHOLE YEAR before either hearing squeals of glee over pointless presents or whining because someone didn’t get anything.

Yeah…I hate Valentine’s almost as much as I hate Halloween. At least children won’t be knocking on my door tonight, so I won’t need to shoot myself.

Bah.
