There have been a lot of rumors floating around that Amazon is going to get into the media download race. It appears that they have launched much sooner than I expected. With TV shows starting at 1.99 and movies going for about 10.00, it’s certainly setting the bar for other services (like Netflix) to jump into the fray. To sweeten the deal, Amazon is offering a free TV show download to introduce the service, as well as offering free media with the purchase of some video enabled MP3 players. I’m planning on downloading the free TV show to see how easy it is to put the files on my Ipod. They have a list of approved players on the site, with PlaysForSure technology…that basically means that I’m screwed if I cannot figure out how to hack the hell out of the files.
