I promise I’m not trying to turn this blog into nothing but movie reviews. :)
The Black Dahlia was not as good as I had hoped. There were a lot of twists and turns and plot changes from the beginning to end, but all of them lacked a little something.
The worst thing about the movie was the extreme over-acting and melodrama. There was a lot of drama surrounding the story, but it was a little over-done…almost laughable at times, but not laughable in an amusing way.
The ending was quite absurd as well. The murder was “solved” at the end of this film. I can’t stand it when a writer is presumptuous enough to completely change a historical fact. I don’t like it in books, and I don’t like it in film. It’s like making a movie about Titanic where the ship makes it safely to New York after a close call. It just makes the story seem far too false for real enjoyment. The historical fact is that the Black Dahlia murder was NOT SOLVED. You can’t change that fact or make it go away for the sake of entertainment. I didn’t like “From Hell” for the same reason. Well, that, and the fact that it was a very boring movie. :)
This movie wasn’t the worst I’ve seen this year, but it’s not something I would watch again, at any rate.
