Less than 8 hours after the Virgina Tech shootings, Jack Thompson was on Fox News making asinine claims that the killer must have trained for the massacre on video games. I seriously would like to punch this guy in the face. I know many people who play video games. First person shooters, GTA, you name it, and most of them do not even own guns, much less would ever act out in this manner. There are so many things wrong with the assumption that games feed the urge to commit crimes. If anything, they are an outlet for anger and aggression, so the players do not feel the need to be combative in daily life.
Eh. What else can you expect from a mental cripple like Jack Thompson.

I bet if you looked hard you would find that another common among all shooters is that they drunk water. Ah ah! It’s in the water! I’d love to see the ratio on the number of “violent game players” and actual shooters. I’m going to make a wild guestimate and say we have less than 1% of all violent game players actually committing these crimes.
I can attest to the fact that I have been angry and violent as far back as I can recall. Yet, I have not had a violent outbreak since I started playing violent games consistently.
Mr. Thompson mentions Robert Steinhäuser who killed 16 plus himself in 2002. What he doesn’t tell the audience (and maybe simply doesn’t know) is that the police did not only find violent computer games in his room but also seasons over seasons of the TV soap opera “Lindenstraße”. I can tell you, anyone who watches that kind of crap is a madman in my eyes!
