It's been a good day.

I'm sure there are a lot of charts and calculators for calculating blood alcohol content, but this one at You Got Insured seemed pretty simple and easy to use. Before going out to party, know you limits and stick to them!

This calculator will calculate your approximate blood alcohol level. Your actual intoxication depends on many factors, and so this should be considered an ESTIMATE. DO NOT use this calculator to determine if it is safe for you to drive.

In all 50 states, it is illegal to drive with a blood alcohol level of .08% or higher. Some states include lesser penalties for driving with a lower blood alcohol level.

How this calculator works:

  • For men, blood alcohol level increases 3.75% per drink divided by weight in pounds.
  • For women, this is 4.5% per drink divided by weight.
  • For both sexes, blood alcohol level decreases about .016% per hour.
  • 1 "drink" = 1/2 oz of pure alcohol. Most actual drinks have more alcohol than that.
