Hulu
December 17, 2007 :: Entertainment, From the Web, Movies & TV, Tech Reviews ::
I received my private beta invatation to Hulu today. Hulu is the newest addition to the online video flock, with one major difference. Hulu was created by the bigwigs at Fox, NBC and Scifi, and provide content that is completely legal and free.
It looks like the Hulu guys have done their homework before creating this site.
Initial impression: The layout looks a little bare, but that’s likely because I am used to getting pummeled by ads on normal network TV sites. After spending a few minutes poking around, I decided that I liked the stripped down, clean feel of the site.
Finding a title and episode are quite easy, and the load time on my 3 meg cable connection was less than 10 seconds for an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
There are short commercials (about 10 seconds) at regular intervals, which aren’t actually too intrusive.
The quality in the normal screen mode is DVD quality, but full-screen mode suffers a little.
Overall, my impression of the site is good. They have a lot of titles, both old and new, and I think they are heading in the right direction.
