Not that anyone out there really cares, but I discovered something pretty awesome last night.
I recently reactivated my WoW account, mostly to play when I am completely bored. In the past, on my new laptop, my FPS (frames per second) has been capped at 60fps. Now, this isn’t bad. In fact, I notice almost no jitter or lag (that’s not ping-time related) with that FPS. However, I was curious. A friend of mine got a new Powerbook recently, and the video card he has is in the same class as mine. I wondered why he was getting easily 100fps when I could never get more than 60. I figured out last night, by disabling vertical sync in the game (which prevents screen tearing) I am able to double my FPS! The max I recorded last night when playing was 136fps. This laptop is freaking awesome. :)
I had the opportunity to go see a local band, Joan Red, last night. They put on a really good show! I was surprised that most of the people there didn’t know who they were, and went to the concert to see the other band who was playing. I’ve been listening to Joan Red for about six months now, and I was very excited that I got to see them.

I got autographs and got to talk to the band, including the lead singer, Anthony. We had a short discussion about how the record companies are raping artists, and I mentioned Amie Street to him. It was nice to meet a good artist whose sole purpose isn’t getting signed, but to make good music and bring it to the fans without the influence of a record label.
At any rate, it was a fun night, and I am hoping to see the band again soon!

REEDSBURG, Wis. (AP) ― An elementary-school event in which kids were encouraged to dress as members of the opposite gender drew the ire of a Christian radio group, whose angry broadcast prompted outraged calls to the district office.

Apparently playing “dress-up” is now the “wrong message” to send to students and “strikes at the heart” of Biblical values.
Give me a break.
First of all, the children picked the theme for the dress up day. The school didn’t force it upon them. Secondly, the parents and teachers had no problem with the theme.
It’s a common theme among some of these nuts to find a demon behind every bush, even in something as innocent as this.
What if the kids wanted to dress up like animals? Would there have been an outcry of “oh my goodness, they are encouraging the kids to be furries”?
When I was a kid, I had been known to put on my parents’ clothes when I was goofing off and playing dress up with my nieces and nephews, and my parents didn’t think I was going to end up gay or a cross-dresser.
Why the outrage here?
Too many people like those in the article would protest to high heaven if anyone tried to regulate their churches or religion, but they try daily to inject religion into every facet of government.
If you don’t like it, don’t participate, but don’t try to force everyone else to dislike it as well.
People need to get over themselves.
Idiots.
