Concert: Disturbed

May 2, 2008 :: Entertainment, Music ::

I just got back from the Disturbed concert, and I am completely exhausted. It’s been a really long day!

Just a quick review of tonight’s concert for you guys.

The opening band was Age of Dying, who hails from Canada. They were pretty good, they reminded me a bit of Cold and Crossfade. They had interesting vocal tricks which added a good element to the mix as well. Out of their set, I liked “Raining Inside” the best.

The second group was Five Fingered Death Punch. This band was much, much harder than the first. The guitars reminded me a bit of early Metallica, while the vocals were reminiscent of Killswitch Engage. These guys are incredibly talented, especially the bassist and guitarist. While it’s not my type of music, it was pretty enjoyable due to the massive amounts of energy the lead singer exuded.

Finally we got to Disturbed. They opened with “Prayer”, and followed up with “Liberate” which got the crowd really pumped. Included in the set were “Deify” and “Stupefy”, along with “Land of Confusion” and “Fear”. They covered a pretty good selection of songs, finishing with “Sickness” as an encore. One thing that was VERY odd is that they omitted their new single, “Inside the Fire” from the set list. Strange.

David’s vocals weren’t as strong as I was expecting, nor was his stage presence. Overall, even though he seemed to really want to give a good show, there wasn’t much of the energy, anger and power that comes through in his recorded music. He did interact with the crowd quite a lot, even allowing a wheel-chair bound fan up on stage for a few songs, which was awesome.

Overall, it was a fairly good show, partially due to the the manic excitement of the crowd in the small venue.

As far as Disturbed is concerned, I’m glad I got to see them, they were decent and certainly talented, but I am not sure I would attend another of their shows unless they were very close by.

I will hopefully update this post with links later on.

Now, I am going to sleep.

Love you all!
