Wow, 30 years since Jonestown:

I am not a fan of protests, but this actually brought tears to my eyes. Apparently, the police shut down the PA (sound system) on an anti-RNC concert last night, where thousands of people had gathered to protest against the war and the policies of the Republican platform led by John McCain.

The band Rage Against the Machine had been set to perform at the event, and grabbed a mega-phone when the police shut down the sound and refused to let them play, delivering some pretty stirring commentary and doing some acapella numbers.

Maybe reading Little Brother made me realize that protests are sometimes necessary, because it can unite people for a cause…
